We are currently seeking individuals to join our abatement team. Even if you don’t have prior experience in asbestos work, don’t worry – Fire & Flood provides comprehensive training and certification to equip you for success in this specialized field.
Job Description:
As an Abatement Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting with the safe and effective removal and disposal of hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, mold, or other contaminants from various sites, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the set-up of containment areas and implementing safety measures to prevent asbestos fiber release.
- Safely removing and disposing of asbestos-containing materials by federal, provincial, and local regulations.
- Operating and maintaining specialized asbestos abatement equipment and tools.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines
- Handle demolition, debris removal, and disposal of damaged materials
Requirements:
- A copy of your driver’s license and criminal record check are required upon hire.
- Asbestos abatement experience with a valid 2-day worker training ticket is considered an asset.
- Training to be provided, if required for the applicable applicant
- Certification and training are encouraged (WHMIS, Asbestos Awareness, Fit Testing)
- Physically fit and can lift 23 kg (50 lbs.).
- Proficient to follow instructions
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Working collaboratively with the abatement team.
- Able to meet deadlines while working alone and in a team environment.

- Being open to feedback & coaching
- Compliance with Saskatoon Fire and Flood’s health and safety protocols.
- Individuals must have their own CSA-approved steel-toed boots. All other personal protective equipment is provided by Saskatoon Fire and Flood.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
