From the beginning, our work has been about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about showing up for the people, families, and businesses that make our communities strong. Whether we’re restoring a home after loss or supporting local initiatives, we believe in being present, involved, and invested in the places we’re proud to call home.
We teamed up with the Waskesiu Foundation to refresh the Narrows Playground, update the Waskesiu ball diamond, and build the new Waskesiu Recreation Centre. By contributing both labour and materials, we were able to create spaces that families and the community can enjoy for years, and we look forward to collaborating on future projects together.
Through our partnership with Care & Share Saskatoon, Fire & Flood supports the Coats for Kids and Bikes for Kids programs. These initiatives help ensure children in our community have a bike to ride in the summer and a warm coat to get through the winter. At our Saskatoon headquarters we maintain a collection of beehives right behind our shop. The hives help support local pollination, and our team gets hands-on experience building frames, checking on the bees, and harvesting the honey.
Each year, the hives produce over 100 litres of honey, which we share with clients, staff, and partners throughout the year. With the bees working hard alongside us, you could almost call them part of the team.
Fire & Flood has been recognized with the NSBA Community Builder Award and the ABEX Community Involvement Award for our ongoing efforts to support local initiatives and strengthen the communities we serve.
These awards reflect the projects we take part in, the spaces we help improve, and the partnerships we build, all aimed at making a lasting, positive impact. For us, it’s never about the recognition itself; it’s about showing up, contributing where we can, and helping our communities thrive.
